Happy Spot

Turning 2 at my current job this coming May! I love working for this brand and so far, I like what I'm doing and am definitely way happier than I was 3 years ago. (My former job was interesting. But...)

So anyway, there's this corner of the office that I "own" and it brings me so much comfort just to be there. I've made it as cozy as possible.

BEFORE. Pardon the messy desk.
AFTER. I really needed the giant cork board.
So here's my desk organizer (Japan Home Center/Daiso/Saizen.. not sure where I got this. Anyway, can't leave those places without a cute little purchase). Pen holder is a Coke glass from McDonalds. Interesting pens include: furry butterfly (from my former officemate, Cas) and Angry Birds (from current officemate, Ranyl).Really loving this cute angel-themed sticky pad. I like it so much, I even gave away the same pad to some friends a couple of Christmases ago.

My new hard drive/electronics case (finally replaced my dirty old one) from Billi.
This giant mug was from my Kris Kringle "mommy" Jane. I super love it because it smiles right at you. And notice the smiley post-its on the  lower right. Those are from my former officemate, Ms. Em.

Here's my little extension shelf. Took this photo earlier this year and now, this spot's fuller, with more binders and clear books.
This little foot stool/storage box (this one's got 6 pairs of shoes in it.haha) is one of my favorite things. Mom got this for me. :)

My office planner (it's now covered in wrapping paper with shoe drawings) and my pretty personal planner (from my friend, Kat!)
A peek into my planner during one of those busy weeks...
And finally, the chaos during my 24th birthday/1st birthday at the office.

BIRTHDAY DESK!

When I have to do the boring parts of my job (budget tracking, processing payments, liquidating, filing...ugh),  the pops of color really make me feel more energized. That, plus some loud, dance music from my trusty earphones (something I can't go to work without).  :)

The Force :)

Looking at my three little friends on the right side of my desktop makes me smile every time. I know there's no real reason for me to insert my external storage devices all at the same time, but sometimes I just have to look at them all together.hihi

Yoda is my 500GB external hard drive. Darth Vader is my trusty 2GB. R2D2 is my office/work 16GB.

Brilliant idea, if I say so.  :))

Celebrating 25:)

Something that I realized is that birthdays are really for moms. It's the culmination of 9 months of carrying
excess weight and having to eat healthy. And all I ever did was come out.

Celebrating today is my way of saying, "Look mom! The baby you struggled to push out of your belly, the one who cried everyday you brought her to school (and who cried every time she was fetched late), the one you had to stay up for just to make sure she finishes her projects, the one who had to keep asking for more money in college, the same one who still asks you to sew the holes in her clothes every time she goes home... She actually survived 25 years! And is doing pretty okay. Isn't that cool?"

And what makes it even more special is the fact that our birthdays are just 2 days apart ;) I love you, Mom! You're the best! Happy birthday to us:) (p.s. thanks too, Dad!hihi)

The Rory Gilmore Reading List

I'm currently marathon-ing all the seasons of Gilmore Girls (aka the most awesome TV series ever). If anything, Rory was the perfect role model for my generation back when this show was still on air. She still is. I will definitely make my future daughter/s watch this show. I keep praying that I will have the same mother-daughter relationship as Lorelai and Rory with my future daughter/s. My only regret is that I didn't have a daughter at 16 (kidding, mom!)

Rainy December

Having the rainy day blues. Unearthed the perfect soundtrack, too. I love this song.

Will we be having a rainy Christmas?

Hunger Games Movie

Around a couple of years back, I randomly came across this book called "Hunger Games" which (my favorite) bookstore, Fully Booked, recommended. At that time, there was no hype about it yet, but based on some online reviews, it seemed cool. So I reserved myself a copy and practically ran to the bookstore to get it.

From the moment I finished reading the first book, I kept telling everyone to read it. It's been the best young adult book I've sank my teeth into after Harry Potter. It was a refreshing read, especially after Twilight disappointed me so bad (I wanted to like it, I really did. So far, I've read the first book and half of New Moon. I'm not ashamed to admit that I like Edward's cheesy lines, but the storytelling was somewhat boring.)

When I moved jobs, I let my new office mates read the Hunger Games series, too. Ha ha. And I even blogged about the series here.

Imagine my excitement when they finally announced that a movie version was in the works. By that time, almost everyone knew about (or have read) the books.

A couple of weeks back the movie trailer FINALLY came out and so far, I haven't heard anything negative about it. It looks like it's going to be the next big movie franchise. Very promising. The great thing about it (I think) is that unlike Harry Potter and Twilight, you won't need to read the books in order to enjoy the movies. The story's not as complicated as Harry and it's fast paced and full of action, unlike Twilight. Please just don't give me a Mockingjay Part 1/Part 2, okay?

Sleepy Thoughts

It's past midnight, I'm lying in bed, listening to songs of my parents' and grandparents' generations (seriously good music), without any worries about tomorrow and fully content to be in the moment I'm in. Such a beautiful prelude to sleep.

Why waste away our limited time on earth worrying about so many things that, when you think about it, don't really matter as much. Why go to bed with a heavy heart and a cluttered mind?

This is how I like to spend the last waking moments of the day -- with a clear mind (I will worry about tomorrow tomorrow. Nothing I can do now anyway) and a full and grateful heart. Hope I never forget this as I go along.

Thank you, God, for nights like these. :)

Edward Cullen?:)

Will max out my Leonardo di Caprio quota with one more photo:

If the timing was right, he could have played Edward Cullen. ;)
